Cutting Die Service
Sharpen, Repair, & Certification
Riverview ensures that customer's dies are compliant with requirements set forth by ASTM, A2LA, Department of Defense, ISO9000 and QS9000. Dies are to be kept free of nicks or burrs, properly sharpened, flat and parallel. Upon receipt, the dimensional characteristics are measured, a visual inspection is performed. The cutting edge is checked for defects such as nicks, burrs, or broken edges and noted for the final report. The die is then sent to be sharpened. Prices do not include extensive rebuild work that may be required. Customers are always notified before additional work is performed such as re-ground flat, parallel and to the required ASTM angle.
The die is then certified to dimensional specifications outlined in the appropriate ASTM method, within full compliance with ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025-05(E), and utilizing NIST traceable standards and equipment. Each die receives a "Certificate of Verification" with "As Found" and "As Left" data and is ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025-2005(E) compliant. Riverview is a small company that customizes its service to the customer. I am proud to say that our customers love our certificates. We make them easy to read and understand, packing them with as much information as possible and ensuring they conform to ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E), ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 and A2LA requirements.
The die is then rechecked for clarity. Each die is "tool dipped" to protect the cutting edge from nicks and burrs that occur during shipping. A laminated identification sticker is placed on each die to provide the customer with required calibration information. Serial number, Type, calibration date and the calibration due date (if requested).
